Sharpening with the Unsharp Mask
When sharpening an image use the Unsharp Mask to retain more control and accuracy. The Unsharp Mask dialog box offers controls and image proofing so that the sharpness values can be instantly revealed. The dialog box contains three parameters, Radius, Strength and Clipping values.
- The Radius determines the overall intensity of the sharpness by specifying the number of pixels to adjust around each edge. Use a number between 0.5 and 2 for best results. Lower numbers work best for screen images, higher numbers for printed output.
- The Strength numeric controls specify the amount of contrast by which you want to increase the pixels.
- The Clipping controls specify the difference in lightness values that adjacent must have before they are sharpened. |
